If you have a desire to become a volunteer firefighter or serve with the Brigade in a support role don't hesitate to contact us. We are looking for people with a desire to serve the community, reasonable physical fitness, and a strong sense of commitment.
You don't need to be Superman or Wonder woman and you don't have to be perfect. Volunteer firefighters come from all walks of life and all shapes and sizes.
Applicants need to be at least 18 years old, pass a security check, pass a medical assessment, and be committed to the training regime once accepted. You need to be reasonably fit, reliable, and able to work effectively as a team member. We train every Monday night at 7:00pm.
The first step will be to an invitation to attend and observe training. If you're still interested we will begin the recruitment process. All equipment and training is supplied by the Fire Service. There is the possibility of promotion and advancement through the ranks of New Zealand Fire Service.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to your community. The social aspect of the Brigade life is an added bonus. We hold several family-friendly get-togethers throughout the year. We are particularly keen to hear from people who work in Ashhurst during the week.
